Hey Gang... Not sure if I can do this (lance remove this if I can't), does anyone know what the wood is that is inlayed into this fingerboard in this ad?? ![]() I want to inlay something like that into a guitar I'm working on and I'm just not sure what it is... It's not maple, could be mahogany but that seems too soft for a fingerboard... Thanks -Paul- |

are you referring to the purfling strip on the fingerbord? It is probably just a dyed maple veneer, don't you think. I add these all the time to my fingerboards and have not seen a problem with wear. |

Yes that's exactly what I'm referring to, not sure if it's dyed or some type of natural color. I've seen it before and I want to duplicate that stripe.. -Paul- |

I use cherry veneer strips for that golden/tan purfling line (also in body purflings) on fingerboards. It is fairly hard, although it's so thin as to not be a worry for wear on the edge of a fingerboard. |

Ooooh good idea, I can get some from a place in Oakland that has a ton of veneers... Thanks Hank ![]() -Paul- |
